Student of the Week - Crystal Wang

Crystal is in 2nd grade and currently one of my youngest students.  She started right along side her older brother Barry.  They both wanted to improve their drawing skills.  She selected a less vicious dragon than her brother’s choice and also utilized the technique of graphing in order to complete her drawing.  Crystal also learned how to apply curved lines instead of the straight flat lines she used previously.  In her picture she had to add cornstalks for the dragon to hold.  While working on the cornstalks, Crystal learned how using over-lapping and value change increases the perceived depth of a drawing.  Crystal completed this very happy and cheerful Dragon called 'Eraflon'.  This drawing was selected to be published in the Spring 2016 book for the 'Celebrating Art' student contest.
