When an artist uses continuous line to create their design that means that they enter and exit the paper only once while never lifting the pen off the paper or retracing until the subject matter is complete. This kind of drawing is usually created within less than 10 minutes. Elaine had an image already prepared in her mind and then carried out her thought with great perfection.
Continuous line sketches are a great way to free the mind of distractions and prepare before starting an art session. This method is also used to teach students how to see better. This process can be utilized by looking at both the paper and subject matter or done as a blink study. In a blind study the student only looks at the object they are drawing and never looks down at the paper until they are finished. The more students practice using the blind continuous line method the better they see and the more their sketches look like the object.
